Following an expose by Taaza TV, Arup Roy, the MLA from Central Howrah and state minister, has ordered immediate action regarding the misuse of drinking water in a housing project. The Howrah Municipal Corporation has been instructed to halt the construction, with the commissioner ensuring its suspension until further investigation. Legal proceedings will be initiated against the promoter, who will also be blacklisted for misusing public resources.
The Howrah Municipal Corporation has directed employees from the Motor Vehicle Department, responsible for water supply, to respond within three days. Surveillance on other involved municipal staff is also in place to ensure accountability. The actions come after Taaza TV highlighted the illegal use of drinking water for construction in the area.
